Egyptian amulets

OBJECTIVES

​

In this proposal Students Will Be Able To:

  • make amulets with different materials

  • identify and name different colours in English

  • identify the name of the different materials used

  • foster the imaginative and creative competence

  • improvise and create with the given resources and materials

NON- LINGUISTIC CONTENT

 

Arts content:

  • creation of an arts and craft

  • individual composition of an object making use of diverse materials

LINGUISTIC CONTENT

  • Identification of colours and class materials in English

  • Understanding an oral speech (video) in English

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY

​

 

First, they will watch one of the two videos with the instructions on how to create a pharaoh amulet (a collar or a cuff)  step by step. 

 

​

Students will choose between creating a pharaoh collar with a paper plate and other recycled materials or creating an Egyptian cuff with recycled toilet paper carton. 

​

SCAFFOLDING

In this activity I will provide a visual support (the video made by me) in which they have clear and easy-understandable instructions on how to do the collar or the cuff. What's more, they will be provided with real examples of the arts and craft, so that they have an idea of the final result.

Besides, they will have all materials labelled in English.

For the assessment activity students will have images, that is visual support, which will help them understand the questions.

ASSESSMENT

​

Apart from the Traffic light evaluation, once the arts and craft is done, the students will have to fill in the proposal assessment. In this worksheet they will be asked to think about which colors and materials they have used in the arts and craft.
